I agree that people are responsible for their actions and should be punished but they’re still people with basic human rights.
It’s bad enough Tazar can’t leave the state.
I think you nailed it with the phrase “basic human rights.” The fact of the matter is, I believe that nobody has the right to harm or take away someone’s life, and that includes state executions.
That said, I completely understand the feelings held by those who have been harmed by sex offenders, and I truly believe that they have every right to feel that the person who hurt them or someone they love/loved should be harmed or killed. But, as a group, as a society, we need to work together to come to a logical recourse for these actions. And to harm or kill a person because because they did something terrible would be to put ourselves on their level — below it, even.
But, I do believe they have lost every right as a member of our society, and therefore, we are completely in the right to take away everything we as a hard working society have given them. But we have not given them the right to have sex, nor have we given them the right to live — God, mother earth, or what ever you believe has given that to them — so I honestly believe that we do not have the right to take those things away.
All for castrating sex offenders and whatnot. ‘An eye for an eye leaves the whole world blind’ is bullshit, it’s a punishment equivilant to the crime committed. You take from society, society will take something of equal value back.
It sucks, but theres a lot of stupid people in the world that don’t learn from a slap on the wrists.
